Supply List - Wiksten Haori

With large patch pockets and a fold-over collar, this oversized jacket is functional, comfortable, and stylish. Not only that, but it's fully lined and reversible as well! This is a great project for first-time garment sewists. In this class students will choose between three different lengths -- short (hip length), mid (below-hip length), and long (thigh length).

Level: Beginner

SUPPLIES REQUIRED:

Students in this class will be receiving a PDF copy of the pattern as well as a print out, printed by Needlework. The pattern will be available to pick up ONE WEEK BEFORE the start of your class, so if you'd like to trace out your size (instead of cutting into the paper pattern) feel free to come by between then and the start of your workshop to pick up a copy and tracing paper.

Please be sure to bring the following materials and tools to complete your Haori:

Recommended Fabrics:

    • Main fabric: medium weight woven fabric with good drape, such as textured cotton, chambray, linen, soft denim, cotton/linen blend, twill, and wool
    • Lining fabric: light to medium weight woven fabric with good drape, such as textured cotton, chambray, linen, cotton/linen blend, and silk

PLEASE NOTE The designer lists yardage required based on the lining of the jacket being used as the collar. If you prefer to have your collar match the main jacket fabric, you will need to SWITCH the yardage requirements for the main and lining fabrics.

See the chart below to determine the appropriate yardage to buy based on your size. If you need assistance reading the chart, please call us at (905) 667 5663. Please note -- all fabric should be pre-washed and dried before the class.
