Wednesday May 22, 29, June 5th, 6-9pm
Join us for three session as we learn how to make the Charlie Caftan! Nothing says summer elegance quite as well as Closet Case's version of this classic summer dress.
All versions feature a deep V neckline, wide sleeves, inset center panel and roomy pockets. View A is modern and architectural with striking pleats beneath the bust. For a softer, more romantic dress, Views B & C feature a gently gathered bodice with an optional waist tie for a figure skimming silhouette in two skirt lengths. You may also choose between a dramatically wide sleeve, or one slightly higher cut for more coverage.
Intermediate. Students should have made at least two garments before and feel confident serging, fusing interfacing, pinning and cutting, measuring themselves.
Instructors: Amanda Farquharson
Max number of participants: 5
Class fee includes a hardcopy pattern - all other materials are extra.
Additional class notes:
There will be homework after each session which students MUST complete to proceed with the next class.
Pattern range is from 0 to 20. If you fall outside this range please contact Needlework for a consultation or private lesson BEFORE class begins so we can adjust your pattern to fit you.
If you are more on the more beginner side of intermediate:
please purchase a light to medium weight woven such as cotton or linen for your first version.
Consider making view A or leaving out the pockets or ties or both if you wish to have more time in class with teacher supervision.
If you are a more confident intermediate:
You can purchase a lightweight or medium woven such as linen, chambray, tencel, cotton, silk, chiffon, rayon challis, crepe de chine, batiste or voile.
You can choose from any of the pattern options:
Full length or short.
Gathered or pleated front
Ties or no ties
Pockets or no pockets.
