Ready to build upon your basic sewing machine skills and tackle a fabric with stretch? Then this is the workshop for you! Learn how to sew with knits on a home sewing machine by making the Jackson Tee by Helen's Closet - no serger required!

The Jackson Tee is a gender-inclusive knit t-shirt pattern with a classic unisex fit, slightly dropped shoulder and crew neck. Designed with many size and length options, this is a pattern you can sew again and again -- for yourself, your family and friends! 

Skills Practiced & Learned
Garment sewing basics: how to read a pattern, accurately taking measurements and selecting a size, cutting and marking fabric, pressing, hemming
- Cutting knits
- Machine set up (selecting stitch setting and appropriate needles)
- Applying a neck binding
- Using a twin needle

Level: Advanced beginner garment sewing
Students must have working knowledge on how to use a domestic sewing machine, and would benefit from having previous experience sewing a garment. If you have no experience using a machine or need a refresher, please enroll in our one-session Sewing Machine Basics class.

Materials: Class fee includes the PDF + printed copyshop pattern and in-store use of sewing machines and notions. Students are required to supply their own fabric and thread (available to purchase at Needlework with class discount applied). Supply list coming soon.

General Class Policies
In order to ensure that each student completes their project in the allotted time frame, our sewing machine based workshops are limited to 5 students (maximum) unless otherwise stated. Workshops that do not required a sewing machine are limited to 6 students. A minimum age of 18 is required for all our classes unless otherwise stated. Students must have completed the Sewing Machine Basics class or have equivalent experience in order to participate in workshops that require the use of a sewing machine. 

Covid-19 Policies 
Instructors and students will be required to wear masks and/or face coverings for the entire duration of the workshop.

Payment and Cancellation Policies
To reserve a spot in any of our workshops, full payment of the class fee is due upon registration. Cancellations made at least 72 hours prior to the class start time are eligible for a full refund. To ensure that we are able to meet the minimum number of students required to run a workshop, cancellations made within 72 hours of the workshop are subject to cancellation penalty equal to 50% of their class fee, with the remaining 50% placed on file as store credit. Cancellations within 24 hours of the class start time forfeit the fee entirely. To avoid a cancellation fee, please provide notice at least 72 hours prior to your scheduled workshop.
