Pants season is upon us! Tackle your own pair of Free Range Slacks - a casual, comfortable, and timeless high-waisted pants pattern by Sew House Seven. In this workshop students will have the choice of sewing a wide or tapered leg. Regardless of the leg option you choose, both views have an elastic high waist, side panels, topstitched front pockets, and optional back patch pocket(s). In the workshop we will discuss the varying seam finishing techniques to determine which best suits your pant leg and choice of fabric.

Skills Practiced & Learned
Garment sewing basics: how to read a pattern, taking measurements and selecting a size, cutting and marking fabric, pressing, hemming
- Topstitching, edge stitching, understitching, clipping curves
- Inserting elastic
- Seam finishing techniques: flat felled seams, french seams, serging

Level: Confident beginner - garment sewing. Students must have working knowledge on how to use a domestic sewing machine and recent experience making at least one other garment. If you've never made a garment before, we recommend starting with The Georgia Top before registering for this workshop.
6 hours (2x 3hr sessions). Additional independent sewing (aka homework) required between sessions.
Instructor: Liz Simpson
Materials: Class fee includes the PDF + printed copyshop pattern and in-store use of sewing machines and notions. Students are required to supply their own fabric and thread (available to purchase at Needlework with class discount applied). See the supply list here.

General Class Policies
In order to ensure that each student completes their project in the allotted time frame, our sewing machine based workshops are limited to 5 students (maximum) unless otherwise stated. Workshops that do not required a sewing machine are limited to 6 students. A minimum age of 18 is required for all our classes unless otherwise stated. Students must have completed the Sewing Machine Basics class or have equivalent experience in order to participate in workshops that require the use of a sewing machine.

Covid-19 Policies
Instructors and students are required to wear masks and/or face coverings for the entire duration of the workshop.

Payment and Cancellation Policies
To reserve a spot in any of our workshops, full payment of the class fee is due upon registration. Cancellations made at least 72 hours prior to the class start time are eligible for a full refund. To ensure that we are able to meet the minimum number of students required to run a workshop, cancellations made within 72 hours of the workshop are subject to cancellation penalty equal to 50% of their class fee, with the remaining 50% placed on file as store credit. Cancellations within 24 hours of the class start time forfeit the fee entirely. To avoid a cancellation fee, please provide notice at least 72 hours prior to your scheduled workshop.

You may register for a class online, in person, or over the phone (905-667-5663) with Visa or Mastercard.
