Phulkari Embroidery, led by Rafia Shafiq, artist from Oakville. Phulkari is an embroidery technique of India & Pakistan which is derived from two Sanskrit words, phul meaning flower and kari meaning work, together it means flower work. 

Rafia has taught this embroidery technique at various institutions, museums, colleges and studios across Greater Toronto Area & teaches it virtually as well. In the class, the participants will create a beautiful phulkari pattern by counting the number of threads of the fabric. They can choose their own color palette of threads. 

Phulkari shawls and embroidered hoops will be shown to participants, along with a short presentation about Phulkari’s history, origin and heritage. All materials will be provided by the instructor herself.

GENERAL CLASS POLICIES
In order to ensure that each student completes their project in the allotted time frame, our sewing machine based workshops are limited to 5 participants. A minimum age of 17 is required for all workshops, unless otherwise stated. Students must have completed the Sewing Basics 1 class or have equivalent experience in order to participate in workshops that require the use of a sewing machine.

MASK POLICY
As of December 2022, all instructors and students are required to wear masks and/or face coverings for the entire duration of our workshops.

PAYMENT AND CANCELLATION POLICIES
You may register for a class online, in person, or over the phone (905-667-5663) with Visa or Mastercard. As space in our classes are extremely limited, in order to reserve a seat we require a 100% non-refundable deposit due upon registration. 

For one session/day workshops:

Cancellations made 5 days [120 hours] prior to the class start time will be issued store credit equal to the class fee that can be used for future classes or in-store purchases. 

Cancellations made within 3 – 5 days [120 and 72 hours] prior to the class start time are subject to cancellation penalty equal to 50% of their class fee, with the remaining 50% placed on file as store credit.

Cancellations within 3 days [72 hours] of the class start time forfeit the fee entirely, and will not be issued store credit. 

For multi-session workshops:

Cancellations made 10 days prior to the class start date will be issued store credit equal to the class fee that can be used for future classes or in-store purchases. 

Cancellations made within 4 – 10 days [96 and 240 hours] prior to the class start time are subject to cancellation penalty equal to 50% of their class fee, with the remaining 50% placed on file as store credit.

Cancellations within 4 days [96 hours] of the class start time forfeit the fee entirely, and will not be issued store credit. 

Please ensure your availability prior to registration, and provide ample notice of withdrawal to avoid penalties and the loss of class fees.
