Demystify garment sewing patterns in this new course! Designed for those who have never used a pattern before, students will complete a garment project of their own choice while learning how to read and use a sewing pattern. Instructional topics covered in this course will include body measuring and sizing, appropriate fabric and trim selections for making garments, understanding pattern markings, choosing the best seams and finishes, sewing samples of common construction techniques and more. Students will receive individual support during the pattern tracing, cutting, and sewing of their selected design. Some homework between classes may be required as needed.
We carry some great beginner level patterns that would be perfect for this class, though students are also welcome to submit other patterns for approval before the first class begins.
