Proper Fit: Bust Adjustments

Wednesday November 9th, 16th and 23rd, 6-9pm

Do you struggle with fitting your sewing projects to your body shape? Most patterns are drafted for B or C cup sizes, in this three session class learn how to adjust a sewing pattern to fit a larger or smaller bust size!

In week one, we will be discussing how to accurately measure your body, how to determine what size to make, and doing paper exercises walking each person through the process of making large and small bust adjustments and other fitting-related topics.

In week two, we will be working on making small or large bust adjustments to specific patterns. Topics covered include tracing pattern pieces, performing a small or large bust adjustment according to your measurements, grading between sizes, adding to the seam allowance for fitting purposes, moving the bust point, adjusting necklines and more!

In week three, we will be transferring our new pattern pieces to muslin fabric and fitting them. Topics include marking lines for fitting, adding seam allowances for fitting purposes, basting a muslin/mock-up garment together, fitting and marking changes on a muslin, and transferring those changes to a final pattern piece.

Finish all three lessons with handouts guiding you through the process and adjusted pattern pieces ready to be cut for a finished garment!
